Call for proposals 2019 - Projects

AFTERBIOCHEM will build biorefineries producing bio-based chemicals for hygiene products, pharmaceuticals and polymers.

ALEHOOP will pilot sustainable macroalgae and legume-based biorefineries to produce low-cost proteins for food and animal feed.

Allthings.bioPRO will involve citizens in setting the bio-based industry agenda, by launching online and offline consultation and discussion.

BeonNAT will use underexploited woody species to obtain eight bioproducts, including bioplastics, wood paper, essential oils, and absorbents.

BIOBESTicide will produce an affordable, highly effective and eco-friendly biopesticide to protect vines.

BIOCOMEM will demonstrate the industrial application of bio-based plastic membranes for high-performing gas separations.

BioSPRINT will improve the transformation of lignocellulosic biomass into new bio-based materials, while reducing operation costs and greenhouse emissions.

BIOSWITCH will help brand owners from chemistry, forest, food and agriculture sectors switching to bio-based production by assisting them throughout this journey, as well as supporting their communication with public administration and consumers.

BIOVEXO will work on innovative biopesticides targeting Xylella bacteria, to fight a disease that threatens olive and almond production in the Mediterranean region.

BIZENTE will apply an enzyme-based innovative technology for the biodegradation of plastic components that currently end up in landfills or incinerators.

CAFIPLA will improve the sorting of biowaste to be used as biomass to produce various biodegradable components that can be turned into everyday products, such as packaging or insulation material.

CHAMPION will develop new bio-based, recyclable and biodegradable materials for high-performance applications to replace petrochemical-derived products in the textile, coating and other sectors.

ENZYCLE will use enzymes to recycle and put back into production plastic fractions, including microplastics, that currently cannot be recycled.

Glaukos will design circular solutions for the textile industry to produce recyclable and sustainable materials and thus reduce (micro) plastic pollution in the oceans.

IRODDI will develop new bio-based products such as surfactants, lubricants, adhesives and cosmetics using free fatty acids contained in the residual sidestream of the refining process of oils and fats.

MODEL2BIO will develop models to optimise the composition, management and processing of bio-based residual streams from the agri-food industry.

MPowerBIO will build digital tools for evaluating investment readiness, as well as online training modules for SMEs to prepare high-quality projects in the bio-based sector.

MULTI-STR3AM will demonstrate the sustainable conversion of microalgae into high-quality products for food, feed and fragrance applications.

NENU2PHAR will optimise the entire production chain of bioplastic components in Europe and offer promising biodegradable substitutes used in different consumer products.

PHERA will develop and commercialise pest control mechanisms with bio-based pheromones to protect crops in Europe.

RECOVER will facilitate the biodegradation of plastics used in the agriculture sector and food industry and convert them into bio-based raw materials. This will improve municipal waste handling and reduce soil pollution.

UP4HEALTH will set the basis for new value chains using food processing by-products to produce bio-based materials for the nutraceutical and cosmetic sectors.
