The groundbreaking ceremony will mark the start of the construction of the PLENITUDE biorefinery.
Through the PLENITUDE project, BBI JU is funding a first-of-its-kind biorefinery that will use crop residues to produce alternative sustainable proteins. The plant will be operational in 2022 with an initial capacity to produce 10,000 tonnes per annum, with plans to grow to more than 50,000 tonnes by 2027. It is expected to create 200 new green jobs in the region and more than 3,000 jobs in the long term.
BBI JU Executive Director Philippe Mengal will give a speech during the event. Head of Programme Virginia Puzzolo and Project Officer Antonella Canalis will also participate in the ceremony.
