EUCYS 2019 | Sofia, Bulgaria

13 September 2019 to 17 September 2019
Sofia, Bulgaria

The EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) is the most important initiative promoted by the EU and the member states to identify and encourage excellent young people, researchers and scientists of the future.

This year, the participants will gather in Sofia to present their inventions, prototypes, research and obtain recognition during the 31st edition of this event.

EUCYS is part of the Science With And For Society activities managed by the Directorate-General for Research of the European Commission. It aims at promoting the ideals of co-operation and interchange between young scientists. Through the event, the European Commission intends to valorise the efforts made in all the countries involved to bring young people closer to science and research, thus encouraging the best and most promising talents, and promote the spirit of innovation and collaboration.

EUCYS provides the students with the opportunity to compete with the best of their peers at European level. Young scientists also have the chance to meet others with similar abilities and interests, and some of the most prominent scientists in Europe.

At the contest, the students present their research to a jury that includes successful and prominent scientists from across the continent. Between the judging rounds the young scientists also have the opportunity to meet and share ideas with the best of their contemporaries at European level. The event is also open to the public; visitors can walk by the stands, explore the work of the students and ask them questions about their vision for the future. Through this, the contest creates an inspiring environment in which scientific thought and co-operation thrives.

BBI JU will be the proud sponsor of the Bioeconomy Bio-based Industries prize award.
